Selling balloon equipment made simple

SecondHandBalloons.com is a dedicated marketplace for pre-owned hot-air balloons, complete systems, components and related equipment.

Posting an ad is straightforward. The listing form automatically adapts to the category you select, so you only need to provide information relevant to the equipment you are selling.

1. Create your account

You need a free SecondHandBalloons.com account before you can post an ad.

Create your account using your name, email address, username and password. Once logged in, you can post new ads and manage your existing listings from My Ads.

Your email address is not displayed publicly in your advertisement.

2. Choose the right category

Start by selecting the category that best describes what you are selling.

Categories include complete balloons and individual components such as:

  • Envelopes
  • Baskets
  • Burners & Frames
  • Fuel Tanks
  • Instruments
  • Inflation Fans
  • Trailers
  • Accessories and other ballooning equipment

Choosing the correct category is important because the advertisement form automatically displays the specifications relevant to that type of equipment.

3. Enter the equipment details

Complete the information requested for your selected category.

Depending on the equipment, this may include details such as manufacturer, model, year, size or capacity, hours or flights, technical specifications and other relevant information.

Please provide accurate information wherever possible. Detailed listings help potential buyers understand what you are offering before contacting you.

Selling several items in one listing

Some categories allow you to advertise multiple individual items in a single listing.

For example, if you are selling four fuel tanks, you don’t need to create four separate advertisements.

Add each tank individually to the same listing and enter its specifications separately. Each tank can have its own:

Manufacturer · Model · Capacity · Type · Fitting · Technical details · Price · Availability

This is particularly useful when equipment in the same lot differs in specification or manufacturer.

You can also provide an optional price for purchasing the complete lot.

If an individual item is sold while others remain available, you can mark that item as Sold without removing the complete advertisement.

4. Complete Balloon listings

If you are selling a complete balloon system, you can describe its individual components within the same advertisement.

For example:

Envelope
Basket
Burner
Fuel Tank #1
Fuel Tank #2
Instruments

Each component uses the specifications appropriate to its equipment category.

This means a complete system can accurately represent equipment from different manufacturers, production years and configurations instead of forcing everything into one generic specification.

5. Set your price

Enter the selling price and select the appropriate currency.

Where multiple items are offered in one advertisement, individual items may have their own prices. You may also specify a price for purchasing the complete lot.

Use the description if you need to explain pricing, VAT status, whether the price is negotiable or any other conditions relevant to the sale.

6. Add a clear description

Use the description to provide information that cannot be adequately represented by the specification fields.

Useful information might include:

Condition · History · Reason for sale · Maintenance · Repairs · Storage · Included accessories · Documentation · Inspection information · Known defects

Be transparent about the condition of used equipment. Buyers should have enough information to decide whether they want to contact you for further details.

7. Upload good photographs

You can upload up to 10 photographs with your advertisement.

The first/cover image represents your listing throughout the marketplace, so choose a clear photograph of the actual equipment.

For best results:

Minimum image size: 800 × 600 px
Maximum file size: 8 MB
Formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP

Photographs should show the actual equipment being offered whenever possible.

For used equipment, additional photographs showing condition, wear, identification plates, components and relevant details can be particularly useful to potential buyers.

8. Submit your ad for review

When everything is ready, select Submit ad for review.

Advertisements are reviewed before publication. This helps us maintain the quality and relevance of listings on SecondHandBalloons.com.

Submitting an advertisement does not publish it immediately.

Once approved, your advertisement becomes publicly visible in the marketplace.

9. Buyers contact you privately

Interested buyers can use the Contact Seller button on your advertisement.

Your email address is not published on the website.

The buyer sends their name, email address and message through SecondHandBalloons.com, and the enquiry is forwarded to the email address associated with your account.

You can then communicate directly with the interested buyer.

10. Manage your ads

Your My Ads page gives you access to your advertisements without requiring access to the WordPress administration area.

From there you can:

Edit your ad · View your published ad · Renew it · Mark it as Sold · Make it available again · Delete it

You can also see how many times your advertisement has been viewed.

When your equipment is sold

Please mark your advertisement as Sold when the equipment is no longer available.

Sold advertisements are removed from active marketplace results but may retain their public page with a clear SOLD indication.

For advertisements containing multiple items, individual items can be marked Sold while the remaining items stay available.
